In 2015 my wife Gema bought a German Shepherd and named him Nanouk. Another vivacious puppy joined us in 2017, called Tosca. Yet when she was four, her weight dropped by half and she could not stand. Our vet expected the worst but we persevered with treatment. Miraculously, Tosca recovered.
Her suffering made me realise why I love my German Shepherd – and inspired me to make this 4K cinema documentary. I’ve been filming my Shepherds in Spain since 2022. Now, I’m capturing diverse stories in England of German Shepherds and their human companions, to complete the film.
